Nutrition: Nutrition Labels and Taste Test

Goal:
Explain how food labels are organized. Explore a given food label and determine healthy or unhealthy components.

Daily Agenda:

1. Watch labeling video. The FDA has made recent changes to food labels. Learn about these changes here and here.
2. Here is a reference for your notes on how to read a food label
2. Labeling taste test in class activity (paper copy)


Calorie= a unit of energy

Fat - 9 calories per gram
Carbohydrates- 4 Calories per gram
Protein - 4 Calories per gram
